Inspiring the Next Generation: A Spectacular WOW Week Careers!

What an incredible, eye-opening day we had at school this week! As part of our annual WOW Week (World of Work), our pupils were treated to a full day of career exploration, inspiring guest speakers, and hands-on learning that brought the future right into our classrooms.

Kickstarting the Day: Words of Wisdom

The excitement began first thing in the morning with a special whole-school assembly. We were thrilled to welcome a diverse group of guest visitors from various industries, who took the stage to share their unique career journeys.

From the qualifications they needed to the daily rewards of their jobs, our guests gave the children a real insight into what's possible with hard work and determination. The pupils listened intently, asking brilliant questions that showed they are already thinking big about their own futures.

Hands-On in the Classrooms

Following the assembly, our guests headed into the classrooms to lead interactive, specialised workshops. This was a fantastic opportunity for pupils to get a closer look at different professions.

Depending on the year group, children found themselves trying out practical tasks, solving real-world work challenges, and learning about the technology and skills used in the modern workforce. The classrooms were buzzing with creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving.

Families Join the Fun: The Afternoon Careers Fair

The grand finale of the day took place in the afternoon, as we opened our doors to parents and carers for our grand Careers Fair.

The school hall was transformed into a bustling marketplace of opportunity. Local businesses, professionals, and even some of our own multi-talented parents set up stalls to showcase their lines of work. Families walked through together, chatting with experts, gathering information, and sparking meaningful conversations about future goals.

Big Trips for Upper Key Stage 2

While activities were buzzing on-site, our oldest students headed out into the community to get a first-hand look at higher education and the entertainment industry:

  • Year 5 at Connell College: Our Year 5 students took a giant leap toward their futures with a visit to Connell College. They got a taste of college life, explored the campus, and learned about the exciting pathways and subjects available to them after high school.

  • Year 6 at the O2 Apollo: Meanwhile, our Year 6 students went behind the scenes at the iconic O2 Apollo. They got a rare glimpse into the music and events industry, learning about the massive variety of careers—from sound engineering to event management—that make a major venue tick.

A Huge Thank You!

A massive thank you to all of our incredible visitors who took time out of their busy schedules to inspire our pupils. Thank you also to the parents and carers who joined us to make the afternoon such a success.

Our pupils left school with big smiles, bright ideas, and a brand-new sense of motivation for their studies. The future is looking incredibly bright!
