🏗️ Reaching New Heights: Our 'Name the Crane' Competition Winners!

It’s official! The giant cranes towering over Mayfield park finally have names, and we have the incredible imaginations of our local children to thank for it.
Students were invited to take part in Mayfields Name the Crane competition, and the results were nothing short of spectacular. Here is a look back at the fun, the creativity, and the exciting day our winners got to see their giant metal friends in person.

A Flood of Creativity
When we launched the competition, we knew the children would bring their A-game, but we were completely blown away by the response. We received dozens of fantastic, funny, and clever entries. From imaginative puns to superhero-inspired monikers, narrowing down the choices was the hardest job the site managers have faced all year!
The Winning Names
After much deliberation from our judging panel, two standout names were officially chosen to grace our towering construction cranes.
A massive congratulations to our winning students for these brilliant names:
-
Sir Lifts-A-Lot: A perfect, mighty name for our heavy-lifting tower crane.
-
Crane Austen: A clever, literary spin for our second crane working on the east side of the site.

A VIP Site Visit
To celebrate, we invited the winning children and their teachers to the building site for a special VIP tour.
The kids were kitted out in their very own mini hard hats and high-vis jackets, transforming them into honorary site managers for the morning. They received a special safety briefing before heading out to the viewing platform to see Sir Lifts-A-Lot and Crane Austen hard at work in the sky.
"They are so BIG!"
The children also had the chance to speak with our site engineers and ask questions.
Looking Ahead
We want to send a huge, heartfelt thank you to all the children who entered the competition and made this project so special. Every time we look up at the sky from the playground this new building takes shape, we will be reminded of the creativity and brilliant energy of our local community.
