From Seed to Saucepan: Our School Garden Story

At Co-op Academy Medlock, we believe that the best meals start with a bit of dirt under our fingernails.
What began as a small patch of grass has blossomed into a thriving school garden that supplies our very own kitchen. Our students aren't just eating their greens; they’re growing them.

Why we do it:
- True Freshness: You can’t get more "local" than the backyard!
- Hands-on Learning: Our garden is a living classroom where science, biology, and nutrition come to life.
- Sustainability: By growing our own, we reduce food miles and teach our students the importance of seasonal eating and caring for the environment.
There’s a special kind of pride that comes when a student sees a vegetable they nurtured featured on the salad bar. It turns "healthy eating" into an adventure and makes our school lunches taste just a little bit better.

Next time you visit, take a peek at our garden—there’s always something delicious growing!
